Hi Everyone,
I have been working on a new prototype Exhaust Commander bi-mode retrofit wireless exhaust controller system for my car and that system is now finished.
I now have the most advanced NPP/Z06 bi-mode retrofit exhaust controller system ever made and the FIRST bi-mode retrofit car to have user selectable rpm open, as well as user selectable throttle position opening, and the ability to go full open using keyfob remote whenever I want to.
I have created a NPP/Z06 exhaust controller system that can be programmed to open and close the butterflies in the exhaust using almost any parameter that the C6's GM canbus network can spit out. As well as having the full open mode on tap at the touch of a button on the keyfob remote or Homelink visor. Full closed mode is as easy as disabling the brain of the system with a push of the button.
Throttle position, Engine RPM, MAP sensor data, Boost Pressure (ZR1?), Vehicle speed, and any of the other data output parameters that you would choose to use can be the trigger to open and close the butterflies. All parameters are entered into the unit in an easy to understand fasion. Open and closed parameters can be enterered separatly so that you can tailor the profiles to exactly what you prefer.
I currently have my butterflies set to open at 2200 rpms and close down again at 1900 rpms, the butterflies will go open if I am over 60% throttle position and will close again when I am below 30%. Depending on how you configure your parameter file different parameters will have priority over the others. In my case RPM trumps throttle position when throttle is lifted, but throttle trumps rpm when full throttle.
If I go over 60% throttle and the buttterflies open at Idle off the line, and I then go over 2200 rpm and lift off the throttle, the butterflies wont close until RPM is below 1900 rpm.
If I go over 60% throttle and only get up to 2000 rpms and then lift the butterflies will be open while above 60% throttle but will close when the throttle is lifted and below 30%.
Its really quite advanced, and any rpm or throttle position parameters can be chosen. I love being able to punch it off the line or on the freeway and have the butterflies immediately open up and roar, and then when in decel remain open and burble and close automatically before the drone zone. When gradualy going through the rpms cruising around town or on the freeway the butterflies remain closed until the specified rpm is reached. Punch the throttle and the butterflies instantly slam open and roar. You could even program it to open na range of vehicle speed if you really wanted to...almost any data the car can output can be used.
While this system would not be for everyone, some racers and true hotrod enthusiasts might wish to have complete and total control over their bi-mode exhaust system.
I built this one of a kind system for my car because I wanted to have total and complete control over my bi-mode retrofit exhuast system. And have the ability to do far more than the stock gm control parameters or just a simple open /closed setup.
This truly is the most advanced bi-mode exhaust controller system ever created. This description barely scratches the surface of what this system is capable of. Engine sensor Data Logging, and so much more will be available... As I flex more of this systems muscles I will update on the progress of it.
My car is a 2005 C6 and uses factory GM Z06/NPP vacuum piping and a vacuum solenoid retrofitted to the car for the vacuum source, as it always has since I completed my bi-mode retrofit install in July 2007.
The car now sports the awesome Billy Boat Fusion mufflers for the ultimate muscle car sound. Now with this bi-mode exhaust control system the car is complete!
I am now the FIRST to have a fully programmable digital exhaust controller system that allows user selectable rpm open and throttle position open as well as any other engine data sensor triggering operating on my car. Also I have the ability to do Full open mode and Full closed modes too.
The entire system is plug and play, there is absolutly no tapping or splicing of wires for any of the signal or sensor parameters. There is no reprogramming of any computers on the car. Its: Plug in, turn on, program your parameters and go.
While it does still have some small quirky things about it, like it needs to be turned off after you shut your car down and then restarted each time the car is powered on, it still is light years ahead of any retrofit bi-mode exhaust contoller that exists.
At this time this is a one of a kind exhaust controller system.
This system is a great achievement achievement in my Exhaust Commander research and development.
This is not the last innovation you will hear from me. I have more exciting products in the lineup that I am about to release to the Corvette Community.
